It isn’t invariably great from start to finish, but the small boat skippers who are fishing stripers every day come through day after day. The Jamaca Bay area is also good, especially for fly fishing.
Saturday’s frecast is for south winds at 10-15 knots before increasing to 20 in the afternoon.
I am not sure about all the reports. I am an experienced striper fisherman and I am very concerned about our fishery right now. This time of year Raritan Bay should be loaded with stripers. Today it was almost completely devoid of fish. No one from our marina at Monmouth Cove that I spoke with caught any fish today. It seems the only fish caught were holdovers way up the rivers on live bunker. One should be able to find huge schools of menhaden right now in the bay but they are few and far between. It is worrisome.
