Mister Pete took over the big money lead in the White Marlin Open by boating an 80-pounder. Gray Fox added to their tuna lead with the first wahoo at 69.5 pounds. Fishing continues through Saturday.

Billfish worth millions are finally on the leaderboard at the White Marlin Open out of Ocean City, MD.

Bull Pen needed every ounce to qualify with a 70-pound white, while Max Bet added a 607.5 pound blue.

As is often the case, fluking in NY/NJ Bight was good until the drift got too fast. Capt. Ron Santee ended uo with a good catch up to 5 pounds 3 ounces on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands.

The latest report from Kil Song is “fished fluke on the Ocean Explorer out of Belmar today. This is the first time I fished on the boat. I am surprised to see light crowd on the boat though weather is beautiful.

We had excellent condition with light west wind.

Bites were hot though majorty was shorts.

I had two keepers and 55 shorts. Everybody enjoyed fine fluking.

I used 7′ JS Bixod Supreme UL rod and IRT 100 XL reel.”
