After a scary start, there’s much better news now from Crazy Alberto Knie as per his followiing update:

“UPDATE:

Following a lengthy ICU stay after a massive heart attack with added complications, I’ve been discharged, but I am still facing high risks. I am wearing a cardioverter defibrillator – 24/7, and it is a constant reminder of the challenges ahead, but your overwhelming prayers and good vibes have been a major source of strength. I’m grateful for your prayers and kindness – they’re helping my weak heart grow stronger and ready for the next procedures! I am also adhering to strict medications and doctors’ orders.

With that, I am humbled. I am a fighter and believe in the power of prayers and the mighty God.

Capt. Ron Santee reported the best fluke fishing of the year so far on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands. There were many double limits with several 4-5-pounders plus a 6-pound pool fluke.

The forecast in NY/NJ Bight is for northeast winds at 15 knots plus gusts to 20. Small craft warnings go up Tuesday and extend to Wednesday afternoon.

Capt. Ron Santee found poor drifting conditions today for his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands, but kept picking away as some fares had two or three keepers and a 6-pound fluke topped the catch. He’s expecting better conditions tomorrow.

The International Hall of Fame (IGFA) 2025 class being installed tody tonight includes veteran Islamorada skipper Richard Stanczyk.

“Captain Richard Stanczyk began his career operating a 40-foot sportfishing boat out of Miami Beach, Florida. In 1978, he purchased Bud N’ Mary’s Marina in Islamorada and turned the marina into a world-renowned fishing destination. Bud N’ Mary’s has attracted actors, athletes, business tycoons, and some of the world’s top anglers to explore what has been dubbed the “Sportfishing Capital of the World.”

Richard is an authority on all facets of saltwater fishing, from backcountry to deep-sea adventures. In 1985, he guided angler Vic Gaspeny to a 14-pound, 6-ounce Atlantic bonefish, setting the 12-pound tippet class IGFA World Record at the time. Richard is also known for pioneering the daytime swordfish fishery off the Florida Keys, a method that has been adopted by anglers worldwide. His legacy continues through his family, with his sons, Rick and Nick, carrying on the Bud N’ Mary’s tradition as respected charter captains.

Capt. Ron Santee said today’s fluking on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands started out well with several 4-7-pounders being boated before the south wind started cranking. The pool winner scaled 7.3 pounds.

Sunday’s forecast in MY/NJ Bight iis for west winds at 10 knots which switches to the desired northwest in the afternoon. Showers are likely;

Vinny D’Anton reports that bluefish returned to the Monmouth County surf a few days ago, but stripers remain very scarce.

Our first TNT trip was very successful as we captured a multitude of deep water species with INSANE tuna catching. The marine forecast in NY/NJ Bight is for south winds at 10-15 knots plus gusts to 20.

Capt. Ron Santee said the day started well until the south wind came on hard. Scott Scuderi took the pool on the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands with a 5 7/16-pound fluke.

Friday’s NY/NJ Bight forecast is for southwest winds at 10-15 knots before going south at 15-20 plus gusts to 25 in the afternoon. There’s a chance of showers.

Several pompano have been caught in the northern N.J. surf lately — and Nick Honachefsky released three of those great eating fish this morning. He was using Fish Bytes. and must have been in a school as they all hit virtually in the wash.

Ocean fluke fishing is still picky, but the average size has been good with pool fish in the 4-pound class.

The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant has been working hard for mostly small blues along with bonito and the first few little tunny.

The continuing ocean swell has resulted in a slow pick even though some large fluke are among the biters.

omorrow’s forecast in NY/NJ/ Bight

is for northeast winds at just 10 knots, but we really need a shift to the west.

NY/NJ Bight isn’t the only place where bluefish have been generally scarce this summer. Mike Monte reports from the island that with a tournament coming up, there are very few blues around — and most of those are very small. Fortunately, the bonito run has been very good — and little tunny just moved in with a solid showing. Sand eels are the attraction.

After enjoying three days of good fluking after the storm swell dropped out, Capt. Ron Santee was surprised by fluking he described as a grind aboard his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands Sunday. The ocean was nice. and a 5 13/16-pounder took the pool.

The Manasquan River Marlin & Tuna Club’s Offshore Open is over, but I haven’t been able to download anything from their site all week.

Capt. Chris DeStefano was in the crew on Crisdel as they boated a 151-pound bigeye during an overnighter, but noted that they only finished fourth. Trolling was good, but there hasn’t been a good night chunking bite as yet.

Dave Lilly found out that flukers drifting closer nshore down the beach this morning were catching mostly shorts, and decided to run Blake Daniel’s boat offshore to a favorite spot. That worked out just fine for a four angler limit catch up to 6 pounds.

The marine forecast for Moday is for northeast winds at 10-15 knots.

The big swell from the storm has dropped out, and ocean fluking has resumed at a high level.

Had action from start to finish with many customers landing 4 plus and 3 keepers each. All quality fish from 3-5 plus pounds.

Glenn Klok took the daily pool with a very nice 5 pound 7 ounce “

Today was pretty much the same. John Pataines won the pool with a 6 3/4-pounder.

Kil Song fished on the Miss Montauk this morning and limited with fluke, while the Viking from that port also reported a good fluke trip.
