Better weather coming

Today was a blowout ,but the rest of the w eek may be fishable for striper anglers in the NY/NJ bight area. The forecast is for NW winds at at 10-15 knots plus gusts to 20 before diminishing to 5-10 in the afternoon.

Awesome striper fishing on the Fishermen

Capt.Ron Santee braved a poor weather forecast to sail his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands into an awesome display of gannets diving bait schools. Everyone limited and released bass up to 42 inches on shads.

,The weather will force a day off tomorrow, but it looks good after that.

It’s not over yet

Capt. Ron Santee is happy to report that after a day with nothing positive to report, there was a return to good striper fishing on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands. There were bass of all sizes and the all-important bait was in good supply.

The Golden Eagle from Belmar had another day of fishing in good readings which didn’t produce many biters. They are taking Monday and Tuesday off due to weather.

The NY/NJ Bight forecast is for northwest winds at 15-20 knots which diminish to 10-15 in the afternoon.

Catch an early striper & be back for dinner

Many party boats will be sailing tomorrow so anglers can catch a striped bass well before Thanksgiving dinner. Check with your favorite skipper for the early sailing time.

Those trips will probably be less crowded than those on Friday which is usually the most crowded party boat day of the year. Assume having to be at the dock at least an hour before sailing time on Friday.

Capt. Ron Santee said he found lots of working stripers during Monday’s trip with his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands, but most wouldn’t hit.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Sunday boat traffic put stripers down

Though there appeared to be good numbers of stripers in NY/NJ Bight on Sunday, it wasn’t easy to get on the spooked bass. Capt. Ron Santee said the flat calm didn’t help either. However, he got into a decent bite toward to end up with a good catch on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands

The Tuesday forecast is for south winds at 10-15 knots plus gusts to 20.

NJ surfcasting a pick

Vinny D’Anton reports Monmouth County surfcasting has slowed to a pick even as boaters continue to do well just a bit further offshore. The bass are now of mixed sizes except for the lack of big ones. The weather was fine this morning, but there were just a few reports from the northern area,

Great struiper bite

When one party boat reports a great early bite while another boat does the same later in the trip, it’s likely that everyone in NY/NJ Bight was happy today.

Capt. Ron Santee said the rain was over by 7 a,m, and fares on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands enjoyed an awesome striper bite of all sizes. The high hook caught 14. On the other hand, the Golden Eagle from Belmar had a slow start before holding stripers under the boat during long drifts.

The forecast is for northwest winds 10-15 knots plus gusts to 20 in the afternoon.

A good day for stripers

It was another fine day for boaters in the NY/NJ/ Bight area as the Golden Eagle from Belmar reported lots of readings and long drifts with good action on 4-6-ounce diamond jigs — both plain and tailed.

Capt. Ron Santee reported from his Fishermen out of Atlantic Highlands as follows:

As we got to the life this morning I watched a whole fleet of boats who were on the birds and life, all pick up and raced out to some new life that had come up!!! No way I was going for that, ran to where they all left and it was game on right off the bat.

Even through the change we still managed to pick away every drop. Had some awesome drifts after the change of tide even with all the traffic. Keepers, Bonus fish and several big babies that got to see another day.

Don’t let a BS forecast of some rain in the AM keep you home tomorrow, the bite has been very good, don’t miss it!! Not much time left….Back at it in the morning!

Mike Monte

7:00am-2:00/2:30pm. No Reservations, Open Boat.

The forecast is for southwest winds at just 5 knots with a chance of morning rain.

Mike Monte tried the Sea Girt surf this morning, but there was nothing doing. A good sign was of loons diving and coming up with something — hopefully sand eels.

Jersey surfcasters into big bass

Though there is no sign of the fall schoolies along the beaches, N.J. surfcasters are getting good shots of action with big bass that often hit n mid-day. Vinny D’Anton said some anglers were discouraged by a cold rain this morning, and were willing to wait for a later bite,

The Golden Eagle from Belmar didn’t find the bass where they provided a great catch yesterday, but still ended up with some keepers while releasing many overs.

The Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands had to move around a lot but a hot bite developed at the end of the tide.

.The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant reported a boat limit of keepers yesterday for the annual charter of the Manasquan Fishing Club plus over 130 released stripers
