Striper bite varies.

After a week of hot action on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands, Capt. Ron Santee of the Fishermen out of Atlantic Highlands found mostly fussy bass today even during the afternoon change of tide. The boat ended up with a dozen bass which was well short of what was spotted in bass among lots of bait.

On the other hand, Capt. George Steller trolled lots of stripers feeding on sand eels off the Highlands Bridge from the small Chrisdel as they hit small lures steadily. Capt. Chris De Stefano was part of the crew, and noted there were other good catches being made further south — including a striper blitz for surfcasters at IBSP.

The forecast is for SE winds at 15=20 knots plus gusts to 25 and afternoon rain.
