NYC Capt. John McMurray reports the west end of Long Island’s south shore was full of bunkers
and sand eels this morning with both 30-40-pound stripers and whales feeding on them. The smallest bass he caught among them was 34 inches.

On the other side of NY/NJ Bight, Chris Buchta had a similar report as sand eels were the attraction for all “over” stripers.
Chuck Many said it was big bass from start to finish yesterday for Alex Katyan on his Tyman from Highlands.

A small craft advisory is up through late tonight. The forecast for the morning is for north winds at 15-20 knots plus gusts to 25.
